Mediterranean migrants crisis: EU triples funding
Too long and I can't be arsed to C+P it. But the title says it all. I think its a massive mistake , its telling them "Keep coming and we'll rescue you if it goes tits"

I think the EU have been complete tossers with this , Germany have told them"Bollocks not our businesses" in so many words and rightly so Its the result of Islamic nutters trying to slaughter each other

Also some human rights rant about EU should have had more rescue boats. More Bollocks

Some Syrian fella the other day wrote and article saying he blamed the West for his cousin drowning after trying to flee the conflict .How about blaming the religious maniacs on both sides who are driving the war. Thats my take on it anyway here's the C+P

I'm on an island called symi,, bang next to turkey. Walked past the OB station and on the verandah were loads of these people hanging around and looking at European wealth and peace within their grasp Actually looked fairly decently attired for what they've gone through. Apparently its 5000 dollars each to do the route so they cant be that hard up. They gave the game away by constantly spitting, though.

We should be only letting people in who we invite not who invite themselves

I drove of the boat into Calais on Thursday . 1st time since Feb

New fencing going up along the motorway and the camps by the train lines have been cleared

They have now changed to the other side of the motorway and the camp it's one mass of blue plastic tents

To get as far as that I'm guessing they have lied and stole their way across Europe and are desperate and hungry

I'm abit of a nimby about it

That first country rule has been bullshit for years

Migrants have been in camps on the French coast waiting to get over here for ages the French should be processing them over there.

Re: Mediterranean migrants crisis: EU triples funding
Under EU rules migrants have to apply for asylum in the first European country they enter

So why are these people allowed to make up their own laws

And why are we not sticking to EU rules and sending every single one on their way who come from Calais ????

Re: Mediterranean migrants crisis: EU triples funding
The EU are missing a fucking trick here.

One of it's significant member states has administrative interests in a fairly sizeable area of land on the African cost of the Mediterranean.

Simply equip that as a staging post and direct/export all illegal immigrants there for processing. I'm sure that would be a more cost effective as well as safer option for all involved.

If there's not enough land, I'm sure the Corporals' Lanyards can negotiate with the administration of the country within which the enclave(s) sit to steal...sorry, lease more land at a commercial rate.

They produce excellent "European" fruit and veg '67 mate - the whole range of it - and they do it in winter when we have to use vast amounts of energy and toxic crap to grow tomatoes that taste like cardboard.

I agree with that except the returning them to Libya bit. Return them to their country of origin unless they are authentic refugees.

Re: Mediterranean migrants crisis: EU triples funding
Instead of using our money to subsidise our already disgustingly rich farmers and food corporations, the EU must open its market to the produce of North Africa, and put political pressure on the US to do so in turn.

This should be combined with a Marshall Plan of investment and support for institutional reform.

All the current measures are nothing but the most pathetic stop-gap, sort-term muddling through. Without a real programme like I've outlined above, there will be nothing but more misery, radicalism, war and waves of refugees that will make what we've seen so far seem like a ripple.

Re: Mediterranean migrants crisis: EU triples funding
They should rescue them and return them to Libya. They are illegal immigrants. Saving them and processing them for settlement in the EU is encouraging criminals and the criminal gangs who are making a fortune in the illegal traffic
